The Problem: Direct from dial-up spamming

Mail sent without using a dedicated mail server as a relay

"Normal" mail sent from dial-up customers use their ISP's mail server as a "relay" or "outgoing" server. This permits logging and traffic control.

"Direct to MX" mail bypasses the sender's ISP's servers, also bypassing logging, rate limiting and blocked relay servers. However, it exposes the sender's IP address and is typically much slower.
