CloudNames AS

Rolf Larsen has been involved in the Internet and domain industry for over 20 years.  After his Internet access company RiksNett was acquired by Telia in 1996, he was hired as the CEO for Telia Internet until he decided to build a new venture in 1998. He then founded ActiveISP/Active24, a supplier of hosting services and domains. As CEO, Active24 grew to be the one of the largest web hosting company in Europe and one of the first ICANN accredited registrars.

During the start-up of ICANN, Rolf was an active member of the Registrar constituency. Active 24 was listed on the Oslo stock exchange in 2005.

In 2001, he made an investment in NetConnect Systems AS, and was appointed CEO. NetConnect Systems was an audio and web conferencing provider.  He transformed the company to become the largest provider of conferencing services in the Nordics, and a leading provider of web conferences in Europe. The conferencing business, Meet24, was sold to Premiere Global Services (PGi) in 2007.

In 2008, Rolf started a new venture named NetConnect AS. The company developed Team Portal, a SharePoint based collaboration service with an App Store for SharePoint applications. Team Portal allows companies to work together more effectively. NetConnect was listed on Oslo Axess stock exchange in 2009. With the company established with key customers, Rolf handed over CEO role in October 2010, but remains involved in the company as the chairman.

In 2011 Rolf started CloudNames AS, to participate in the opportunities connected to ICANN opening the namespace for new top level domains (gTLDs). Rolf’s success is based on the philosophy that complex technical processes and systems can be made easy to use for end users. CloudNames mission is to provide a turnkey solution for brand owners, which allow them to focus on strengthening their brand rather than managing the operations of their top level domain.
